With over 15 years of experience, she began her artistic career at a young age as a soloist in works such as Mozart’s “Coronation Mass” and “Requiem,” Cherubini’s “Requiem,” Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” Beethoven’s “9th Symphony,” and Zarzuelas such as “La Corte del Faraón,” “La Leyenda del Beso,” and “Los Gavilanes.” She graduated as a professional musician with an emphasis on lyrical singing from EAFIT University (Colombia). She was the winner of the first prize at the “International Singing Competition of the same University.” She pursued advanced studies in singing at the “Conservatori del Liceu” (Barcelona) and at the Reina Sofía School of Music (Madrid) in the Chair of Singing “Alfredo Kraus” under the guidance of tenor Ryland Davies. She holds a Master’s degree in the specialty of “Theater and Performing Arts” from the Complutense University of Madrid. She has received masterclasses from sopranos Ana María Sánchez and Sondra Radvanovsky; mezzos Angelika Kirchschlager and Teresa Berganza; tenors Juan Diego Flórez and John Graham-Hall; baritone Christopher Maltman, and Maestro Ralf Gothóni.

In opera, she has portrayed Cherubino and Marcellina in “The Marriage of Figaro,” Musetta in “La Bohème,” Despina in “Così fan tutte,” Annina in “La Traviata,” Micaela in the opera “Carmen,” Suor Genovieffa in “Suor Angelica,” and Juliet in “Leyendas de Bécquer.” She has also made her debut as a leading role in Madrid and other important cities in Spain in Zarzuelas such as “La Revoltosa” in the role of “Maripepa,” “Duquesa Carolina” in “Luisa Fernanda,” “Rosario” in “La Chulapona,” “Ascensión” in “La del Manojo de rosas,” “Sagrario” in “La rosa del azafrán,” “Lota” in “La Corte de Faraón,” “María Jesús” in “La boda de Luis Alonso,” “Visita” in “El Bateo,” “Manuela” in “Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente,” “La Roldán” in “El barbero de Sevilla,” “Susana” in “La verbena de la Paloma,” among others.

She is part of the list of “50 Latin American Creators in Madrid” by “Casa América,” highlighting her as a great representative of Colombian lyrical music around the world, thanks to her frank, powerful, and brilliant voice that reflects her mixed heritage, as well as her fluid, powerful, energetic, and captivating acting and interpretive abilities.

Mariana transcends borders and discovers new worlds with her voice, which emanates from within her through sounds and words, to both surprise and be amazed like a child. With over 15 years of artistic career, Mariana is a cultural ambassador of Colombia to the world through opera singing, a genre that is her specialty but not her only field of action.

As an artist, Mariana is characterized by the subtlety, explosiveness, dedication, power, and energy of her performances, along with her great acting ability. Her sincere, extensive, mysterious, powerful, and brilliant voice reflects her mixed heritage, which in turn enriches her interpretive versatility in the type of show she offers to the audience.
